Retaining walls are supporting structures designed to withstand the effects of soil and loads in the event of a sudden elevation of the terrain. We apply gravity retaining walls made of gabions or MSEW (mechanically stabilized earth wall) with various façade options (e.g., green, gabion, concrete-block, or concrete-slab ones). MSEW can be extremely high and withstand extremely high loads, ensuring the necessary strength, stability and durability of the structure. They are not sensitive to uneven base deformations. The use of this type of retaining walls allows to avoid large concrete installation works, thus significantly saving installation costs and reducing the amount of CO2 emission into the atmosphere.
According to European standards, MSEW and gabion retaining walls are used in roads and other traffic areas, railways, earthworks for foundations and supporting structures, as well as erosion protection works, and canal construction.
Gabions are rectangular baskets made of welded or double-braided anticorrosion-coated wire netting, used together with stone or coarse crushed stone backfilling.
Gabions make it possible to form retaining walls that are permeable to water and do not produce hydrostatic pressure. These retaining walls are an excellent choice for a natural-looking façade and are unattractive to graffiti artists. They can also be used as noise barriers or erosion protection.
The selection of gabions is particularly wide: you can choose from various mesh sizes, wire thickness, anti-corrosion coatings, and gabion dimensions. The materials can be adapted according to the situation of each project.
Gabions are certified, and CE marked according to the requirements of European standards and Regulation (EU) No 305/2011.
Gabions with anchoring are volumetric elements formed from a double-braided, anti-corrosion-coated wire mesh with an integral reinforcing element connected to the façade. There are three types of façade elements:
Gabions with anchoring make it possible to form retaining walls with a certain angle of inclination, the façade part of which can be stones or a steep slope with naturally growing vegetation. This is an excellent choice for obtaining a natural-looking façade, and the construction time is extremely short. Hence, no formwork is not required for the installation of the façade, and additional layers of geogrids are required for walls up to 4 to 6 meters high. Thus, this type of structure can be built extremely high, as they can be easily combined with geogrids. They can also be used as noise barriers.
The selection of gabions with anchoring is sufficiently wide: you can choose from different wire thickness, anti-corrosion coatings and dimensions. Various options and combinations of façades are possible. The materials can be adapted according to the situation of each project.
Gabions with anchoring are certified and CE marked according to the requirements of European standards and Regulation (EU) No 305/2011.
